BLM Publishes Draft National Off-Highway Vehicle Strategy

spacer image The Bureau of Land Management has released a Draft National Off-Highway Vehicle Management Strategy designed to encourage more environmentally sensitive use of off-road vehicles on BLM lands. 49 meetings were held last summer, 2000, to invite public participation prior to drafting the strategy. A follow-up 30-day public comment period ran through January 3, 2001.
spacer image "This Draft Strategy is aimed at recognizing the interests of OHV users while protecting environmentally sensitive areas on the public lands. It also seeks to focus the agency's scarce funding and staffing resources on OHV management rather than on off-highway-vehicle-related litigation." said BLM's Henri Bisson.
